Financial Assistance

GCPD does not have programs that provide financial assistance to people with disabilities. Some resources below may provide what you are looking for.

Social Security

  • Offers different benefit programs for people with disabilities such as:
  • Eligible applicants must have a qualifying disability as defined by Social Security which is determined through the Disability Determination Process. Make sure to check the listing of impairments to see if your disability meets criteria.
  • Approved SSI applicants are automatically enrolled into Medicaid.
  • After a mandatory waiting period, approved SSDI and Survivor Benefits are enrolled in Medicare Part A Hospital Benefits with the option to pay for additional Medicare coverage. Some beneficiaries may be eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid.
  • The Protection and Advocacy for Beneficiaries of Social Security (PABSS) program provided through Disability Rights Texas can help Texans with disabilities keep their benefits when they start working.
  • For more information contact Social Security Administration (SSA) at (800) 772-1213
